Located on a narrow strip of land between the Atlantic Ocean and Sesacatcheta Pond, the design challenge for Hoicks Hollow was to create a guest cottage that took advantage of two separate views. The solution was to create a central public space which joins two bungalows spiraling out from the center. Small outdoor spaces provide refuge from the unpredictable Nantucket weather. The hand-hewn oak timber frame structure offers the freedom of an open floor plan and long expanses of glass to bring the outdoors in.
