An important aspect of sustainable construction is to minimize the impact the building has on the natural environment around it. The house has been placed on the site in a location which preserves the maximum amount of existing vegetation and reduces the distance vehicles need to travel. Green roofs and rainwater collection are used to minimize sotrmwater runoff. Native plants are used for new planting areas, helping to protect the existing vegetation.
